VException Error 365826

Have you been greeted with an error message about a Vexception when you start FlashWorks (Mac only)?

An exception of class VException was not handled. The
application must shut down. Exception Error Number: 365826

We apologize. It is an issue with our installe and permissions, and we are working to fix it. But in the meantime, we can tell you the two ways to get around the problem.

One way is to create your own database by importing the text file. Here are detailed instructions.

The second way is to correct the permissions yourself. It isn't that hard to do.

1. Locate the two files in your Finder

You have to fix permissions on both FlashWorksGreek.vdb and FlashWorksGreek.blb (or FlashWorksHebrew.vdb and FlashWorksHebrew.blb). The installer saved them by default to ~/Documents/Teknia/FlashWorksData/FlashWorksGreek.vdb. ("~/" means you are in your user account on the computer.) Locate them in your Finder.

2. Get Info on the files

Single click on a file, and then COMMAND-I (or select File>>Get Info).

3. Prepare the file

Down at the bottom are the permissions for that file.

What shows on your computer is not what shows on mine, since we have different user accounts. If everything is working right and permissions don't have to be changed, then the permissions will look something like this.

My user account is Delta, and the "(Me)" confirms that I have access to this file. Of course, if you already have permission to access this file, you wouldn't be reading this forum post.

Make sure that the file's permissions can be adjusted. You do this with the padlock in the lower right. If the padlock is closed, click on it.

Enter your computer's password and click OK.

Now you can adjust the permissions.

4. Give yourself Read & Write access

Click the plus sign in the lower left corner of the window.

This is what happens on my computer.

For example, if your user name were "Haydd," it would look like this.

You are looking for your user account. It should be the same as the name in the sidebar in your Finder. It might indicate your user with "(Me)."

Select that name, and it will be loaded into the permissions box. (I am going to switch to another computer screen to illustrate the next few steps. The user account is "hayden."

Now select your name and choose Read & Write

Now you can close the window and repeat the process with the other file. That's all there is to it.

If your user account were DoctorX, it looks like this.
